Modern Wise-men: Ferriss, Godin, and Pressfield

A brief introduction of my blog is required, before I introduce my version of three Wise-Men. My blog will cover the teachings that life experiences have handed me and hopefully with a sort entertaining twist.

Why read my posts? Because if you have gotten this far we are kindred spirits as you and I are both searchers of knowledge. Well it could be I forced you to read it…. However, I have had great successes and terrible failures. I have studied many things and done many things. I am a master of nothing other than my own destiny. The truly hardest person that I have had to lead has been myself.

My goal through this blog is to not only learn but also teach as well or at least provoke some thought within you the reader. Hopefully, I will post biweekly and the knowledge I have gained by using Word Press to manage my website and this blog has been immensely rewarding. However, at the end when my ink runs dry and I move to a different playing field if the only two readers of this blog are my daughters and it helps them in some small way on their journey then it has been a good day. Ultimately we are all occupying the same space and none of us are on an island unto ourselves……

Having stated the above I thought it imperative to post details on the three modern day wise-men. Are these the only ones absolutely not but they make my top three. Please note this blog is part of my faith based ministry to work with young adults in the outdoors so please don’t interpret the definition of : “Wise-Men” as anything other than as defined in the educational/knowledge sense… The three Wise-Men don’t know me at all but they have the ability to enrich all of our lives through their published work.

Tim Ferriss has an amazing podcast where he “deconstructs the lives of top performers in all fields of life.” He taught me to never stop thirsting for knowledge and that always go with Alice down the Rabbit hole…… The journey is the answer. The 4-Hour Workweek: Escape 9-5, Live Anywhere, and Join the New Rich

Seth Godin has written numerous books his latest being a must own: “What to Do When it’s Your Turn (and it’s Always Your Turn).” I have given four of the magazine style books away. In addition he has a daily blog that consists of 10 to 20 words that packs a thought provoking punch that gets served to me every morning with my first cup of coffee. He has taught me to “ship my art” no matter if anybody accepts it or not. That in fact to create internal credibility of ones self the art has to be shipped. The other of my favorite reads and I have given this book way is: Linchpin: Are You Indispensable?

Steven Pressfield has taught me the concept of “Do the Work Now” in his book Do the Work: Overcome Resistance and Get Out of Your Own Way.” Just writing that one quote down everyday at my desk before starting work pulls at me to keep doing the work. To keep fighting what he defines as “The Resistance.” Which is everything that calls at you and redirects you away from your one true purpose.

I am so blessed you took your precious time to read my blog and I want to hear from you. Also any purchases of materials from my website go to support Wings and Water and our efforts to make a difference.
